What We Do
Service
Members and pledges participate in a plethora of service projects and events in the Madison area and within UW-Madison, donating 100s of hours in total per semester. Recent examples include:
Writing cards to residents of assisted living centers
Peer tutoring of fellow accounting students
Creating school supply kits for children
Collecting non-perishable food items for food pantries
Professional Meetings
Throughout each semester, members and pledges have the opportunity to participate in four Professional Meetings, each one sponsored by a different firm. After an update from the Board of Directors of the Sigma Chapter, the sponsoring firm presents about a pertinent business issue. Afterwards, students get the chance ask questions to the firm representatives. Meetings provide an excellent opportunity for students to interact and network with business professionals. Attire is business professional.
Professional Trips
Members and pledges have the opportunity to participate in trips to visit accounting firms in Chicago, Milwaukee or Minneapolis. Trips include office visits and other networking events and activities with firms. They also provide an excellent opportunity to get to know other members of Beta Alpha Psi!
Socials
At numerous events throughout each semester, members and pledges are encouraged to interact and have fun outside of a professional context. Examples of recent social events include:
Golfing at 7-Iron Social
Evening at the Comedy Club on State
Murder Mystery Night
Bowling at Union South
Ice cream at Memorial Union
Scholarships
The Terry Warfield Scholarship and the Outstanding Membership Scholarship are awarded on a semesterly or yearly basis. The scholarships are awarded based on a vote by the Executive Board (President, President-Elect, and Vice President) and the Board of Directors, respectively. Both scholarships are awarded to members or pledges that demonstrate outstanding service to the organization.
